October Surprise
by Ted Taylor & Matt McErlean
Inspired by Mark Twain’s “Puddnhead Wilson”, a novel published in 1894, Twain’s story is about a female slave who switches her light-skinned baby with the plantation owner’s son.
October Surprise is a contemporary political drama set in Washington DC about a sophisticated woman of a powerful and influential family who has presidential plans for her son. However, a girlfriend and a car accident throw a wrench into the works. Meanwhile, a well-positioned senator, two private investigators, one with a past the other with no future, along with a former government dirty-tricks operative, and an aging one-hit singer are all making whatever moves they can to fulfill their own agendas. In the end, there’s room for only one winner in a racially charged presidential election.
